One morning the sun is going to climb the sky and it won’t ask for permission. Birds are going to sing about your absence and strangers will laugh. The world stays in its ordinary orbit—only you won’t be in it. Yes one day tomorrow will start without you. This is not a curse but a truism.
Your chair is going to eventually hold someone else’s warmth. Your name will probably fade from conversations and your phone will just buzz unanswered. Life doesn’t pause. That’s just how it is.
And that truth isn’t really morbid—it’s actually kind of merciful. It forces a question: Are you spending your days like they’re borrowed or like you actually own them? Or maybe we just forget to ask.
It’s better to stay humble before time does it for you. People shouldn’t hoard pride or keep postponing kindness. Just speak while your voice still works. Forgive while your chest is still rising. Reach out while your hands still have strength in them.
Because tomorrow is eventually going to start without you and that’s a certainty. So today—make sure your life acts like an echo that refuses to just go silent.
So Lord! teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom” (Psalm 90:12, KJV) is a prayer for divine perspective on the brevity of life. It means recognizing that life is temporary, leading to wiser choices, intentional living, and a focus on eternal, spiritual priorities rather than temporary pleasures.
