Actually, we are living in a time that expects us to explain every little thing. Whenever some claim pops up—even if it’s based on some half-truth or a flat-out lie—everyone pressures you to fix the record immediately. There’s this constant push to show “proof” or build some big case to prove you’re decent.
But the reality is much more freeing: You really don’t have to answer every accusation.
In many cases, choosing to say nothing at all is a power move. Relationships break down and people start to change historical facts just so they look better or you look the nightmare. That is fine. You don’t have to jump into their narrative and some may feel you have to defend yourself. But you don’t. Half the time, the picture being drawn says nothing about reality and everything about that person’s own hurt. People who are hurting often need someone to blame just to makes sense out of their own domestic chaos. If you didn’t cause their private wreckage, why should you suffer to stop them from thinking what they think? Maybe it’s just easier to let them keep those thoughts.
Let people be revisionists if that’s their goal. Let them strip you out of certain memories or whatever. Your character doesn’t just fall apart because someone decided to choose a selective memory.
It isn’t on you to convince every single person watching that you are actually a good person. Being an full-time image-consultant for your life is way too exhausting for any regular person. Even the Bible touches on this. It says:
“Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay,’ says the Lord.” — Romans 12:19 (NIV)
That’s Romans 12 letting us know revenge is someone else’s department. Let God worry about what other people decide to ignore. Human memory works oddly and fails whenever we need it most, but the bigger truth stays put. Proving the points is His responsibility and finding peace is probably ours.
I think the best route is the quiet road of moving forward into your own life. That’s probably the most interesting story you could write anyway.
Thanks for reading dear; May God’s Wisdom lead us and may His Peace remain steady within you. I urge you to like , subscribe and share it to bless others. Shalom Chaverim.
