Populism, Ministry, and Pastoral Work Are Incompatible. Indeed populism has no place in work of Ministry. Giving to the poor, needy in society , charity work , preaching and crusades must be done by ministers of The Gospel devoid of populism.

Populism, which is characterized by its appeal to the interests and viewpoints of common people, has gained ground in a number of societal areas. However, populism runs afoul of the fundamental tenets and teachings of these areas when it comes to pastoral work or ministry activities. With reference to pertinent scripture, this article will examine the idea that populism has no place in pastoral or ministry activity.

1. Service-oriented leadership and humility

(NIV translation of Philippians 2:3–4) “Never act with arrogance or selfish ambition. Instead, practise humility and place others’ needs ahead of your own at all times. Humility and servant leadership are the cornerstones upon which ministry and pastoral activity are constructed. Contrarily, populism frequently prioritises self-interest and the advancement of one’s own goals.

The idea of humility encourages leaders to prioritise the needs of others over their own, creating an atmosphere where service is valued more highly than self-interest.

2. Biblical Principles of Love and Unity
Romans 12:16 (NIV) is a verse in the Bible. “Achieve concord among one another. Be humble and open to interacting with those who hold lower positions than you. Avoid being arrogant. The development of harmony, love, and inclusivity among all people takes precedence in ministry and pastoral activity. By highlighting differences and advancing exclusive views, populism frequently splits communities. Scripture teaches us to live in harmony with one another and to abstain from pride and haughtiness.

3. Moral Responsibility and Honesty:
Word of God: Ephesians 4:25 (NIV) As a result, each of you must avoid lying to your neighbours and communicate the truth to them because we are all part of the same body. Truth and ethical responsibility are the foundations of ministry and pastoral activity. Instead of making decisions based on solid facts, populist inclinations frequently involve falsifying information, swaying public opinion, and appealing to emotions. In light of the interconnectivity of all societal members, Scripture commands believers to speak honestly and keep their integrity. The qualities of humility, unity, love, and truth that are essential to the work of ministry and pastoral endeavours stand in stark contrast to populism’s focus on self-interest, division, and manipulation.

Those who engage in pastoral and ministerial professions can navigate their roles with honesty and integrity while making a good impact on other people’s lives by embracing the scripture principles that promote selflessness, inclusion, and ethical responsibility.

May God remember you and grant us the Grace to walk in the fear of God.

Be Blessed dear!!!
