First, regardless of how powerful or successful you were in your previous profession, you will be eliminated from the workplace at the age of 60 to 67 and revert to your regular self. Thus, don’t hold onto the attitude and feeling of dominance from your previous position. Give up your ego before it takes you away from your comfort level.
The second stage begins when you turn 70 and your society starts to progressively eradicate you. You won’t see as many of your former coworkers or friends, and very few people will remember you from your previous job. Saying I was the boss once isn’t appropriate because the younger generation won’t know you, and you shouldn’t feel awkward about it.
At the age of 80, family gradually eliminates you, even if you have a large family and numerous grandchildren. This is the third stage. You’ll be living alone or with your spouse for the majority of the time. You shouldn’t hold it against the kids for visiting less frequently because they are busy with their own and their families’ lives, and when they do, it’s usually a sign of affection.
The fourth stage begins at age 90. If you’re lucky, the earth will desire to exterminate you at that age. Some of the people you already knew i.e. your work colleagues, school mates etc., would have already departed forever. Don’t be depressed or sorrowful right now because this is the course of life, and everyone will ultimately follow that path in one way or another. Instead, please enjoy life to the fullest while your body is still capable of doing so. Consume as much healthy food and drink as you like, play more, and engage in your favourite activities, not forgetting about your spiritual well-being for your soul, for it is appointed unto man once to die and after that judgement.
The Good Book states clearly in Psalm 90:12, “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” It’s a powerful reminder to make the most of our time on earth and live with purpose.
God’s grace is sufficient for us.
Thanks for reading. May The sufficiency of God’s Grace sustain us. Be Blessed mightily of God.
