Today’s society demands that we evaluate our churches’ priorities and make sure that Jesus Christ is the focal point rather than a particular person, like the bishop. It is vital to keep in mind that Jesus should always be in the forefront, even though church leaders unquestionably play a significant role.
It is good to give honour to a Head Pastor, Bishop, Moderator or a General Overseer but it will be in error to worship the leader in the name of showing loyalty. Your worship must only be to God. He alone is Awesome and our allegiance must be to God Alone and not a mortal being,
There may be several wrongs and consequences when a church starts to revolve around the bishop rather than Jesus Christ. First and foremost, it may result in the exaltation of human authority over divine authority and idolization. As followers of Christ, we must never forget that Jesus is the only one in whom we should put our everything.
Furthermore, putting too much focus on the Bishop may overshadow the gospel and water down Jesus’ teachings. Any church’s mission should be to share Christ’s love and the gospel, not to elevate a particular figurehead. The core of Christianity may be damaged if the emphasis is shifted away from Jesus.
Furthermore, elevating the bishop to a major role may foster a culture of dependency and impede individual spiritual development. Rather than depending entirely on the authority and guidance of a church leader, it is imperative that every believer establish a personal connection with Jesus Christ. “I am the way, the truth, and the life,” declared Jesus Himself in John 14:6. Nobody else except through me can approach the Father.” We are reminded in this text that Jesus alone should be the foundation of our faith.
We have to keep an eye on our churches’ focus to make sure it’s in line with Jesus’ teachings. By doing this, we may make sure that the Bishop or Archbishop is not projected rather than Jesus Christ and avoid any unforeseen repercussions. Keep in mind Hebrews 12:2, which states, “Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.” The foundation of our faith is Jesus, and this verse exhorts us to never waver from that.
In conclusion, it is critical to determine whether our churches are genuinely oriented around Jesus Christ or if they are too focused on a single figurehead, like the bishop or Archbishop. We can guarantee a Christ-centered community that accurately reflects the Gospel by coordinating our goals with biblical teachings. To preserve the genuine spirit of Christianity, let us reflect on our hearts and ask for wisdom in prayer. God Alone is Awesome. Thanks for reading. Be Blessed Mightily of God.
