A Flawed System Does Not Appear Unfair To Those Who Benefit From It

A bad system doesn’t appear wrong to those who benefit from it. To the disadvantage of society as a whole, they will stop at nothing to defend it.

This idea emphasises the propensity of people to defend and uphold policies that may be wrong or harmful to others just because they personally profit from them.

People who gain from such arrangements frequently have a blind spot for or a deliberate decision to ignore their detrimental effects on others. They frequently get involved in its maintenance even if it promotes inequity, injustice, or harm when a system grants advantages, privileges, or authority to particular people or groups. This self-interest may make them blind to the wider effects and keep them from realising the need for change.

Scripture also provides insight on this idea. According to Proverbs 30:14, there are some who use their teeth as swords and their fangs as blades to eat the needy and the impoverished from among humanity. This stanza argues that some people prioritise their own interests over the welfare of society, exploiting their privileges to the disadvantage of those who are less fortunate.

Isaiah 5:20 gives a similar warning about people who “call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness.” This lyric implies that people could exaggerate facts to justify a broken system, portraying it as just or useful while ignoring the harm it causes.

In general, this idea highlights the significance of identifying and opposing systems that support injustice and harm, even if they may not be obvious to people who profit from them. It necessitates a broader viewpoint that takes the welfare of all societal members into account rather than just the interests of a privileged few.

May God remember you and grant us the Grace to walk in the fear of God.

Be Blessed dear!!!
