A church ministry can become a cult if it restricts the freedom of its members in the name of Loyalty, honour, and submission.
2 Corinthians 3:17 asserts, “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” This verse emphasises the link between the Holy Spirit’s influence and freedom in the Christian life. A church ministry that limits or manipulates the expression of the Holy Spirit’s work in persons curtails the freedom that Christ grants.
Christian freedom and liberty are fundamental elements of the religion, and the Bible emphasises the value of these freedoms. Church ministries can engage in cult-like behaviours when they place their authority above the liberty and uniqueness of their members.
The Bible emphasises the connection between freedom in Christian life and the presence of the Holy Spirit, and the truth should be easily accessible and encouraged within an effective church ministry.
Discouragement of inquiry, critical thinking, and independent Bible study can lead to a church ministry becoming a cult. A true Christian faith encourages liberty, welcomes the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and equips believers with knowledge and the truth.
I’m very much inspired by Galatians 5:1. So maintain your resolve and resist letting a yoke of enslavement fall upon you once more.
May God remember you and grant us the Grace to walk in the fear of God.
Be Blessed dear!!!
